Does my child have to participate in the Winter Show or Spring Recital?Participation in our winter and spring recitals is strongly encouraged for all students at our studio. The recitals provide a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their hard work and accomplishments to friends, family, and the wider community. While there may be rare instances where our youngest dancers choose not to participate in the Winter Show due to their age and maturity level, they typically become eager to demonstrate their progress by the time the Spring Recital approaches. In the event that a conflict arises, such as a family wedding, preventing a student from participating in a recital, we still highly recommend enrolling them in technique classes. It's important to note that our end-of-year recital serves as an exciting culmination of the skills and techniques students have learned and refined throughout the studio year. Whether or not a child performs in the recital, the skills they acquire through their dedicated training are invaluable and will continue to contribute to their growth as dancers. To ensure efficient planning and coordination, the studio assumes that each eligible dancer will be participating in all performances unless otherwise communicated. If a dancer will not be participating in a recital, written notice must be submitted to the studio no later than three weeks after the start of the semester. It's important to keep in mind that once costumes have been ordered, refunds are not possible, and the associated cost will be the responsibility of the account holder. We appreciate your understanding and adherence to these policies, as they help us maintain a streamlined and organized approach to our recitals. Our ultimate aim is to provide a positive and rewarding experience for all students, celebrating their growth and achievements in the art of dance.

Can I watch my child's class? At our studio, we have observed over the years that students tend to achieve better results when they are not under the added distraction of being watched during their classes. Our focus is to create a conducive learning environment where students can fully engage and concentrate on their dance education. However, we do understand that as parents, you may have a natural curiosity to observe your child's progress and behavior in class. To accommodate this interest while minimizing distractions, we are actively working towards implementing a solution that will allow for the streaming of classes online. This feature will provide parents with the convenience of watching their child's class comfortably from home or on the go. We anticipate offering this streaming option once or twice a semester, ensuring that parents have the opportunity to observe their child's dance journey while maintaining the integrity of the classroom environment. This initiative aligns with our commitment to leveraging technology to enhance the parent experience and keep you connected to your child's learning and development. We appreciate your understanding as we strive to strike the right balance between providing parents with valuable insights and creating an optimal learning atmosphere for our students. We look forward to offering the online streaming service as an additional avenue for you to witness and celebrate your child's growth in dance.

What if my child is sick or needs to miss a class? Is there a make up day?We recognize that unforeseen circumstances such as illness or conflicts may occasionally arise, necessitating a dancer's absence from class. While missing a single class is generally manageable and should not significantly disrupt their learning progress, we understand that multiple consecutive absences due to a serious illness or injury require special consideration. In such exceptional cases, we are committed to addressing the unique needs of the dancer by arranging a meeting with both the parent and the dancer. This meeting serves as an opportunity to assess the situation comprehensively and collaboratively determine the most suitable course of action to support the dancer's progress and well-being. Additionally, we provide valuable resources to facilitate continued practice and engagement outside the studio. Our studio offers weekly or bi-weekly practice videos of performance choreography, enabling dancers to practice and refine their choreography at home. These practice videos serve as a valuable tool for maintaining skill development and ensuring that dancers can stay connected with their routines even when unable to attend class. Our goal is to support the growth and development of each dancer, taking into account individual circumstances and providing appropriate solutions to minimize any disruptions to their dance journey. We remain dedicated to open communication and fostering a collaborative environment where we can work together to ensure the best possible experience for our dancers.

Do classes ever get cancelled? At our studio, class cancellations are a rarity, as we prioritize delivering consistent and uninterrupted dance instruction. However, in the unlikely event of an instructor illness or unforeseen conflict, we have established a contingency plan to minimize any disruptions to the class schedule. In such cases, families enrolled in the affected classes will receive prompt notification via text message, detailing the circumstances and providing information on the makeup process. We are committed to ensuring that any missed classes are rescheduled at a later date or seamlessly incorporated into upcoming classes, ensuring that our students receive the full extent of their scheduled instruction. While we strive to maintain a regular class schedule, it is important to note that we are based in the Midwest, where inclement weather conditions occasionally necessitate class cancellations. To address this, we have a comprehensive weather policy in place. We kindly ask that you review this policy for further details regarding weather-related cancellations and the corresponding procedures. Our primary objective is to provide a consistent and enriching dance experience for our students and their families. We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation in navigating any unforeseen circumstances that may arise. Rest assured that we are dedicated to open communication and prompt resolution to ensure the continuity of your dancer's progress.

What is your weather policy?Ensuring the safety and well-being of our dancers is of utmost importance to us. Therefore, we have established a comprehensive weather policy to guide our decisions regarding class cancellations. Please take note of the following guidelines: General Rule: If you, as a parent or guardian, feel uncomfortable driving to class due to inclement weather conditions, we fully understand and respect your decision to keep your dancer at home. Safety is our top priority. Specific Policy: Early Dismissal or Cancellation of After-School Activities: In the event of early school dismissal or cancellation of after-school activities due to weather conditions, we will not hold dance classes that evening. This decision is based on the determination made by the school district that the roads will be unsafe for travel during our peak class hours. Morning School Cancellations: If school is canceled in the morning, on the first occurrence for a specific day of the week within a semester, there will be no dance class held on that day. However, for subsequent school cancellations on the same day of the week, a decision regarding class cancellation will be made by 1:30pm. To communicate this decision, we will promptly post a notice on the parent portal, the parent Facebook page, and send out a text message to all affected parties. Please be aware that if a class has more than one snow day within a semester, the instructor will determine a suitable makeup schedule. Sunday Classes: For Sunday classes, a decision regarding class cancellation will be made by 2:30pm. We strive to provide timely information to ensure you and your dancer can plan accordingly. By adhering to this weather policy, we aim to prioritize the safety and well-being of our dancers and their families. We understand the challenges posed by inclement weather and will make every effort to communicate any class cancellations in a timely manner. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we navigate weather-related circumstances together.

Do you have parent/teacher conferences? At Creative Motion, we greatly value the importance of effective communication between parents and teachers. While we do not schedule formal parent/teacher conferences due to the desire to optimize class time for our dancers, we maintain an open-door policy to facilitate ongoing dialogue. Should we observe any behaviors or areas of concern that warrant attention, rest assured that we will proactively reach out to you to discuss our observations and develop appropriate strategies for improvement. Conversely, we also eagerly welcome any positive feedback or commendations that you may wish to share regarding your dancer's progress. We strongly encourage you to approach us with any questions or queries you may have about your child's dance journey. We are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment, and we believe that fostering open lines of communication between parents and teachers is paramount in achieving this goal. However, we kindly request that these conversations take place outside of class time to ensure that every precious minute of instruction is devoted to teaching and guiding our dancers. Furthermore, to provide you with a comprehensive overview of your child's progress, we are pleased to inform you that we will be offering progress reports for all dancers in Elementary School and younger. These reports will serve as valuable insights into their development, allowing us to celebrate achievements and address any areas that may require additional attention. By prioritizing communication, collaboration, and efficient use of class time, we aim to provide the best possible dance education for your child. Together, let us nurture their growth and passion for dance, ensuring a rewarding and fulfilling experience for all involved.

What if my child is having problems? At Creative Motion, our foremost commitment is to provide exemplary training to each and every dancer. In the event that we identify a student who may be encountering challenges beyond the ordinary, we proactively initiate a collaborative process involving the parent and, potentially, the student. Through a scheduled meeting, we aim to engage in a comprehensive dialogue to better understand the specific concerns and explore avenues to address and accommodate the unique needs of the dancer. In our efforts to extend support and facilitate continuous improvement, we offer access to practice videos of recital choreography through our parent portal. While these resources are designed to enhance the learning experience, we understand that additional assistance may be required in certain cases. For such instances, parents have the option to schedule a private lesson with one of our experienced teachers, subject to a nominal fee. We firmly believe that open communication and proactive collaboration are paramount in resolving any difficulties a student may encounter. By actively engaging with our faculty and utilizing the available resources, we strive to create an environment where each dancer can thrive and overcome obstacles along their dance journey. Rest assured that we are dedicated to the growth and success of your child, and we remain committed to addressing concerns in a prompt, professional, and personalized manner. Together, let us navigate these challenges and ensure that your child receives the utmost support and guidance to excel in their dance education.

Why is there a Dress Code?Research has shown that the way students present themselves influences their mindset and commitment to their studies. In our dance classes, we have observed that when dancers come dressed in a more "professional" manner, they tend to approach their studies with greater seriousness and absorb knowledge at an accelerated pace. The act of preparing themselves for class by adhering to a dress code helps cultivate a focused and receptive mindset. Recognizing that dance classes represent a significant investment for our studio families, we strive to ensure that our students derive the utmost benefit from their class experience. We firmly believe that establishing specific dress requirements assists them in meeting the expectations of the class more effectively. Furthermore, we offer relaxed dress code days throughout the semester, occasionally themed to add an element of enjoyment and variation. By encouraging our students to embrace a dress code, we aim to foster an environment where professionalism and dedication are celebrated. Through this approach, we not only promote a higher level of engagement but also instill valuable habits that can extend beyond the dance studio. We value the partnership with our studio families and remain committed to maximizing the educational experience for our students. Together, let us cultivate an atmosphere where students truly embody the role they aspire to play and excel in their dance studies.
